17 September Express Meeting Review

September 17, 2012
We had yet another laughter filled Early Bird Express Meeting this morning at the Windsor Gardens Restaurant at Fish Hoek. With a thought provoking CC3 speech by Claire Strohbach on 'Love the one you're with' and an hilarious CC4 by Mike Fawcett on 'Will Man Ever Fly?', the moming saw lots of laughter and enjoyment all round. The Express Meeting is definitely gaining traction and we even had a visitor who will be signing up with the club from next month! Everyone agreed that it is a wonderful way to start the week and also an easy environment for new speakers to gain confidence.

Claire Strohbach walked away with Best Speaker of the morning and Ruth Cort won best Evaluator for her first ever evaluation!

5th September: Meeting Review

September 7, 2012

We had a brilliant meeting to herald in Spring! The four outstanding CC2's really proved that the quality of speakers at Two Oceans Toastmasters is exemplary. With Aaron pondering the pro's of Possum Plucking, Mallorie uncovering the silver lining of her fears, Jeremy reminding us that Gingers are people too, and Claire exploring whether or not we should respect our elders – our September meeting was a laughter filled and very memorable meeting. The quality of speeches was so outst...

18 Aug: Kay Price-Lindsay is joint 10th in the World

August 21, 2012
With all of Two Oceans Toastmasters good wishes behind her, Kay winged her way to Orlando last Monday to represent Two Oceans (and Southern Africa) at the International Public Speaking World Champs. She was part of the final group of 9 Semi-Finals held on 16th August and was the last person of the day to speak (talk about pressure)! For the first time in the competition the ballots had to be counted 3 times because the results were so close and in the end Kay was placed 2nd to an Ameri...

13 Aug - Early Bird Express Meeting

August 13, 2012
Two Oceans enjoyed a true Woman's Month Early Bird meeting this morning, with Alana Bryne single handedly taking on being Sergeant At Arms, Toastmaster and Evaluator for two speeches!  Stepping in Marion who came down with flu, Alana did a sterling job of multi-tasking through her various roles of the morning. Verity stood in a President for the Toast and Awards, while a first time visitor Andrew acted as timekeeper!

It made for a very festive meeting with a thought provoking and beautifully c...

The support for Kay was tangible in the room and it was no surprise that after delivering her second speech the audience gave her a standing ovation!  Everyone felt that regardless of the outcome this week...

16 July - Early Bird Express Meeting

July 16, 2012
Two Oceans sneaked in a 'back to school' Express meeting this morning with the theme "Believers are Achievers". The role of Toastmasters in believing that you can achieve, was carried through the whole of the meeting and 11 hardy souls braved the wet weather to join us for a laughter filled morning.

Verity Price in her first Toastmaster role then took control of the "flight" and flew us gracefully from Fish Hoek, on our own special trip, including comingup with an "impromptu" impromptu...
