Club Meeting - Wed 3rd July
We started our new year with bang with twenty three members and four guests coming out in force. Big congrats go to Ryan Arendse for delivering is Ice Breaker speech and starting his new role as SAA! Justine Crew-Brown gave a fabulous CC2, Mallorie Lee a thought provoking CC4, Ruth an entertaining AC4, Melanie Steyn a rivetting AC4 and Marion Thomas a hilarious AC9 roast of Theo.

Early Bird Meeting - Mon July 15th
This month saw a small but cheery crowd of 6 members at our Monday meeting. Nick Satchel made for a great Toastmaster of the day and we were treated to a CC1 by Ron Engel on prejudice, an entertaining CC5 on the merits of 'night time caving' by Nick Satchel and an insightful AC9 on the origins of the Methodist Church by Ruth Cort.

Special Meeting - Thurs 18th July
In the spirit of Mandela Day Marion Thomas treated our 'small' special meeting to a stirling Toastmaster role.

With 10 members gathered, Kevin Robinson 'broke' the ice with his touching CC1 (and set a club record of 63 UMs: ), Clint McKenzie is officially in the saddle after his fantastic CC2, Kay Price-Lindsay regaled us with tales of her AC1 'Virtually Perfect' wedding and Lorne Sulcas was fantastic as he embodied Shirley Valentine for his interpretive reading AC7 assignment. We even had one celebrity guest - SA comedian Siv Ngesi!

Top Honours in the Division

At the Toastmasters end of year awards dinner held at Newlands Cricket club on Saturday the 20th of July, we proved that we not only have the spirit, but we also have what it takes to be a top club that produces great leaders!

Two Oceans walked away with two of the four awards on offer on the evening.

Toastmaster of the year was awarded to Verity Price and Club President of the year was awarded to Theo Potgieter. Two Oceans Toastmasters Club also achieved Presidents Distinguished Club Status ...

30 June: We are Presidents Distinguished!

Two Oceans is proud to announce that we finished the year with 9 DCP points. This makes us a Presidents Distinguished Club for the 2nd year in a row!

An especially big thanks goes to Alana Bryne who by achieving a Triple Crown this year helped the club earn 2 points with her CL and ACB. Also to Marion Thomas for her AL and Babette Davisson for her ACS. 18 June: Year End Dinner Meeting

In true Two Oceans style we all gathered to celebrate another bumper year and welcome in the new committee for 2013-2014.  Kalkbay Theatre provide the venue, Funki Chef the food and Theatresports the side splitting entertainment!  Another laughter filled evening was enjoyed by all, steered effortlessly by Marion Thomas as Toastmaster of the evening. 3 June: Meeting Review

Our June meeting was a bumper one with 5 speeches, brilliant table topics and fantastic evaluations.

With Theo away Jeremy stepped in as acting president and Carey Fenn as Toastmaster was exceptional - her preparation for the role was flawless and she kept us effortlessly on track.

Two Oceans Toastmasters is proud to have had two members once again rise above the crowd this year and stand out as exceptional communicators in the International Speech and Evaluations contest.

Local business owner Francois Roux was crowned Best Speaker in the Area (Southern Suburbs) in April and went on to take third place at the Division Contest (Western Cape) in May. Last night the best of the best of Area D1 met to battle it out at the International Speech and Evaluations Contest. The contest was held at the Wynberg Old Boys Pavillion and was brilliantly organised by Ryan Skews of Good Hope Toastmasters.

7 members and 2 guests gathered for another fun filled Early Bird Express meeting at the Windsor Gardens with Helen Burton taking the lead as Toastmaster of the day.  Nick Satchel treated us to his CC1 of comparing his life's journey to a hike; Debby Satchel shared with us how to grow our 'African Money Trees' in a lively CC6 and Ruth Cort enthralled everyone with an East African Fable in her AC5.

The caliber of the speeches and evaluations at our contest meeting tonight was absolutely astounding, but unfortunately each contest can only have one winner. Congratulations to Francois Roux who won the English International contest . Francois, we will be cheering you on at the Area Contest!
