Anél Pieter Hammersma represents Two Oceans at the Division Contest

One of our newest members Anél (on the left), has flown through the International prepared speaking contest rounds and will be representing our club on Saturday the 7th April at the Division Contest. Her speech title 'Noise' is a delightful look at mindfulness, accepting life on life's terms and surrender.

Delivered with her amazing confidence, powerful presence and hilarious storytelling ability, we are watching this space.

Verity is crowned SA Evaluations Champ

In a first for Two Oceans, member Verity Price brought by the title of District 74 Evaluations Champion for 2015!  This is the second time a member has been crowned a District Champion - in 2012 Verity's sister Kay Price-Lindsay won the District Prepared Speaking title. We are a club on fire!

Reto & Lorne BOTH place at District Contest

Lorne Sulcas took 3rd place at the District 74 Evaluations Contest on 16 May and Reto Camichel went on to take 2nd place at the Prepared Speaking contest on 17 May.  A HUGE success for them both and for Two Oceans.

Since 2012 we've had member at the District Finals each Year. Kay took 1st place for speaking in 2021, Verity took 2nd place for Humourous Speaking in 2012, Lorne took 3rd place for Evaluations in 2013 and Francois competed in Prepared Speaking. Jeremy competed in the Humorous Final...

Two Oceans are the Area Champs!

From Club to Area to Division.... the world is our oyster! Two Oceans participated in many ways at the Area Contest on 19th March, held at the Steenberg Golf Estate and brilliantly run by Breakfast Club Toastmasters.  Melanie Steyn was our brilliant Contest Chair, we provided judges on the night and even 'Cashiers' at the door! :) Two Oceans took first and second place in BOTH contests! What an unbelievable night!

Two Oceans Toastmasters is proud to have had two members once again rise above the crowd this year and stand out as exceptional communicators in the International Speech and Evaluations contest.

Last night the best of the best of Area D1 met to battle it out at the International Speech and Evaluations Contest. The contest was held at the Wynberg Old Boys Pavillion and was brilliantly organised by Ryan Skews of Good Hope Toastmasters.

The caliber of the speeches and evaluations at our contest meeting tonight was absolutely astounding, but unfortunately each contest can only have one winner. Two Oceans Toastmasters will be holding its Annual International Speech contest on Wednesday 6th March at the Fish Hoek Civic Centre at 19h00.

Last year, Kay Price-Lindsay did Two Oceans proud when she went from winning the club contest to representing Southern Africa at the International Speaking Contest Semi-Finals in Orlando, Florida in the USA. With all of Two Oceans Toastmasters good wishes behind her, Kay winged her way to Orlando last Monday to represent Two Oceans (and Southern Africa) at the International Public Speaking World Champs. She was part of the final group of 9 Semi-Finals held on 16th August and was the last person of the day to speak (talk about pressure)! 5 May: District Contest won by Kay!!!

Kay Price-Lindsay won the District 74 International (prepared) speaking contest with her speech 'Snap, Crackle, Pop'. This is the first time ever that a member of Two Oceans Toastmasters has become the public speaking champion of Southern Africa!!!

Kay will represent District 74 at the World Championships of Public Speaking in the USA in August 2012. Go get em!

Two Oceans Toastmasters hosted the annual Division D speech contests in the Alphen Hall in Constantia. This was the first time our club had hosted such an event and it went brilliantly. With over 100 guests, fantastic finalists in the Prepared Speaking, Impromptu and Evaluation sections and delicious catering, it was a very special evening all round.

14 March: Area Speech Contest

The annual speech contests for Area D1 were held at Good Hope Toastmasters in Tokai.

From Two Oceans Toastmasters Kay Price-Lindsay won the International (prepared) speech contest and Sandi Welsh placed second in the Impromptu Speaking contest (which was won by Mike Fawcett from Achievers Toastmasters). Oliver Hagan (Grove Toastmasters) won the Evaluations contest.

Kay will represent area D1 at the Division D contest on Thursday 29 March 2012.

Division D means Namibia & the Western Cape of South Africa (approximately 30 clubs)
