Kay Price-Lindsay named President of the Year 2016/2017

Toastmaster Kevin Robinson, who holds the record for the most ums in his first speech (63) has certainly conquered public speaking and now finds himself giving presentations internationally in his career. Two Oceans Toastmasters raises the roof with laughter

The Fish Hoek Civic Centre roof was raised with roars of side-splitting laughter at the recently hosted Two Oceans Toastmasters annual Humorous and Impromptu Speech Competition.

After seven prepared humorous speeches and five impromptu presentations, the judge’s pencils came to a rest and the top two places for each category were announced: Verity Price and Reto Camichel walked away with the first and second places in the impromptu category while and Jeremy Fenn and Chris Smyly bagged first ...

Two Oceans celebrated a brilliant Year End Dinner on Wednesday and swore in a brand new committee! We were spoiled to a delicious meal at Barracudas in Fish Hoek as a festive group of members and partners gathered to enjoy a special evening together.

Member Marion Thomas had a huge success running  her Youth Leadership Program at the AZ Berman Highschool in 2013 and recently was asked to appear on SABC program Hectic99 with some of the learners to talk about overcoming the fear of public speaking!

Top Honours in the Division

At the Toastmasters end of year awards dinner held at Newlands Cricket club on Saturday the 20th of July, we proved that we not only have the spirit, but we also have what it takes to be a top club that produces great leaders!

Two Oceans walked away with two of the four awards on offer on the evening.

First 3 Distinguished Club Points for Two Oceans

Just  three months into the new Toastmasters year and Two Oceans has already achieved three Distinguished Club Points (DCP)!

By paying our semi-annual dues in September we qualified for our first DCP point! It was a show of great support as always by every member to ensure our treasurer Verity could pay everyones fees across before the deadline. Thank you all!

11 Aug - Kay's Farewell PR Event

On Sat 11th August over 60 friends, family and fellow toastmasters gathered at The Forge in Kalkbay to watch Kay Price-Lindsay deliver her final dress rehearsal of her two speeches for the Toastmasters International Speaking World Championships that begin on 16th August in Orlando, Florida. The support for Kay was tangible in the room and it was no surprise that after delivering her second speech the audience gave her a standing ovation!  Everyone felt that regardless of the outcome this week...

Youth Leadership Program news...

Two Oceans Toastmasters member Alana Byrne has for the last few months been running a Youth Leadership Programme at Silvermine Academy in order to help the youth of Fish Hoek find their voice. Alana, a life coach, has taken the opportunity to help Grade 11 & 12 students at Silvermine Academy take part in the Toastmasters Youth Leadership Programme as part of her own progress within the Toastmasters Leadership programme.

Last night at the Annual Division D dinner our very own Marion Thomas was crowned Division D Toastmaster of the Year!!! Two Oceans celebrated a successful end of the Toastmasters year at Bhandari's Restuarant in Fish Hoek on Wed 27th June. Our members enjoyed a delicious Indian feast complete with belly dancers and much laughter. Lorne Sulcas was Toastmaster for the evening and Area Governer Francois Rossouw inducted in the new committee for 2012-2013.
