Youth Leadership Program news...

Two Oceans Toastmasters member Alana Byrne has for the last few months been running a Youth Leadership Programme at Silvermine Academy in order to help the youth of Fish Hoek find their voice. Alana, a life coach, has taken the opportunity to help Grade 11 & 12 students at Silvermine Academy take part in the Toastmasters Youth Leadership Programme as part of her own progress within the Toastmasters Leadership programme.

16 July - Early Bird Express Meeting

Two Oceans sneaked in a 'back to school' Express meeting this morning with the theme "Believers are Achievers". The role of Toastmasters in believing that you can achieve, was carried through the whole of the meeting and 11 hardy souls braved the wet weather to join us for a laughter filled morning.

11 July - Division Dinner crowns Marion Thomas!

Last night at the Annual Division D dinner our very own Marion Thomas was crowned Division D Toastmaster of the Year!!! Her tireless work as our President last year, along with pulling off a brilliant Division Contest, helping members achieve their goals, assisting in chartering the Breakfast Club and getting our own Early Bird Express Meeting going, made her without a doubt the deserving recipient of Toastmaster of the Year!

4 July: New Year, New Beginnings

Our first club meeting of the Toastmasters year was held on Wednesday 4th July and saw the new club president Theo Potgieter outline the incoming committee vision for the year:  to focus on helping all our members reach their educational goals and keep improving the quality of each meeting.

27 June: Annual Dinner Meeting

Two Oceans celebrated a successful end of the Toastmasters year at Bhandari's Restuarant in Fish Hoek on Wed 27th June. Our members enjoyed a delicious Indian feast complete with belly dancers and much laughter. Lorne Sulcas was Toastmaster for the evening and Area Governer Francois Rossouw inducted in the new committee for 2012-2013.

5 May: District Contest won by Kay!!!

Kay Price-Lindsay won the District 74 International (prepared) speaking contest with her speech 'Snap, Crackle, Pop'. This is the first time ever that a member of Two Oceans Toastmasters has become the public speaking champion of Southern Africa!!!

Kay will represent District 74 at the World Championships of Public Speaking in the USA in August 2012. Go get em!

29 March: Division Contest hosted by Two Oceans!

Two Oceans Toastmasters hosted the annual Division D speech contests in the Alphen Hall in Constantia. This was the first time our club had hosted such an event and it went brilliantly. With over 100 guests, fantastic finalists in the Prepared Speaking, Impromptu and Evaluation sections and delicious catering, it was a very special evening all round.

14 March: Area Speech Contest

The annual speech contests for Area D1 were held at Good Hope Toastmasters in Tokai.

From Two Oceans Toastmasters Kay Price-Lindsay won the International (prepared) speech contest and Sandi Welsh placed second in the Impromptu Speaking contest (which was won by Mike Fawcett from Achievers Toastmasters). Oliver Hagan (Grove Toastmasters) won the Evaluations contest.

Kay will represent area D1 at the Division D contest on Thursday 29 March 2012.

1 February: Annual Speech Contest

Two Oceans Toastmasters held their annual speech contests, and the winners were
Kay Price-Lindsay
(international or prepared speech), Lorne Sulcas (evaluations) and Sandi Welsh (impromptu speaking).

They will represent Two Oceans Toastmasters at the Area contest on Wednesday 14 March 2012. Good luck!

means the 9 countries of Toastmasters Southern Africa (approximately 125 clubs)

Division D means Namibia & the Western Cape of South Africa (approximately 30 clubs)


Area D1 means the 4 Toastmasters clubs in Fish Hoek, Tokai, Claremont & Newlands
